About ToP

Technology of Participation (ToP) is an integrated set of facilitation methods, tools and approaches that foster authentic participation and meaningful collaboration. ToP methods are used around the world to:

  • Welcome diversity while minimizing polarization and conflict

  • Let a group deal with more data in less time

  • Bring clarity to complex issues and systems

  • Move participants to genuine commitment and action

Nonprofit organizations, government agencies, businesses, professional associations and communities around the world use ToP programs and methods, and ToP practitioners can be found serving as managers, team leaders, teachers, consultants, activists, and more.

The ToP Network is an association of practitioners and trainers of ToP methods that seeks to improve and expand the practice of ToP methods by:

  • Connecting practitioners for support and innovation

  • Providing helpful resources and technical assistance

  • Offering learning and professional development opportunities

  • Supporting research and evaluation of ToP methods

  • Advocating for and promoting the use of ToP-trained facilitators

The ToP Network maintains training as our core competency, continually innovates ToP methods and curriculum, and supports ToP practitioners' professional development journey.
